Diversity in Representation Fund
A fund to support underrepresented creatives through waived fees, mentorship, and visibility.
Diversity in Representation Fund
The Diversity in Representation Fund is a year-round CREATE48 Media Network initiative dedicated to increasing equity and access in filmmaking. Each year, the program removes financial barriers for 10 team leaders—representing about 120 filmmakers—by covering the full registration cost for the Seattle 48 Hour Film Project. These funded slots are reserved for filmmakers from underrepresented communities or those who cannot afford the entry fee.
Thanks to generous donations from individual supporters and funding from 4Culture’s Public Free Access grant, this program ensures that a wide range of voices and perspectives are represented on screen. Participants also receive access to networking opportunities, public screenings, and the chance to compete for awards and recognition.
Our goal is to expand the Fund to 20 teams per event and provide travel stipends for winning teams to attend the international Filmapalooza festival, further amplifying King County’s creative talent on a global stage.
