About the event
The Seattle 48 Hour Film Project is a weekend filmmaking challenge where teams create an original short film from start to finish in just 48 hours.
At kickoff, each team receives required creative elements: a genre, character, prop, and line of dialogue. From that moment, the clock starts. Teams spend the weekend writing, casting, shooting, editing, scoring, and delivering a completed short film by the Sunday deadline.
The result is more than a competition. It is a hands-on production experience, a community-building event, and a public showcase for local creative talent. Participants build real-world skills under real constraints, form new collaborations, and gain the experience of taking a project from idea to audience in a single weekend.
Completed films are screened publicly in Seattle, giving filmmakers the opportunity to see their work with an audience, connect with peers, and celebrate the creative energy of the regional film community.
