We’re a nonprofit fueled by the belief that storytelling shapes culture—and that opportunity should be available to everyone. From hands-on filmmaking competitions to mentorship, workshops, and networking events, we’re building a dynamic creative economy that celebrates bold voices and new ideas.

What We’re About

🚀 Creative Projects At the heart of CREATE48 is the 48 Hour Film Project—a global challenge that puts creativity into overdrive. Teams have just one weekend to write, shoot, and edit a short film. It's intense, it's inspiring, and it’s where careers are born. Our Horror edition in October pushes those limits even further.

🎓 Learning & Mentorship From crash courses in screenwriting to in-depth workshops on directing and sound design, we offer practical education led by working professionals. Our mentorship program pairs emerging creatives with seasoned pros for real talk, hands-on feedback, and ongoing support.

🎉 Community Events We don’t just make films—we throw mixers, happy hours, and pop-up screenings that bring people together. Our monthly Burien Film Office Happy Hours are a great example: real connections, real collaboration, no gatekeeping.

🌍 Equity & Access Through our Diversity in Representation Fund, we cover entry fees and create on-ramps for underrepresented voices in film. We believe great stories come from everywhere—and everyone deserves the chance to tell theirs.
