CREATE48 Media Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This Privacy Policy describes how CREATE48 Media Network and its affiliated programs, events, websites, and services (“CREATE48,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collect, use, protect, and disclose personal information.

1. Our privacy commitment

CREATE48 does not sell or rent personal information.

CREATE48 does not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes or for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may provide limited personal information to service providers that perform necessary services on our behalf, such as website hosting, email delivery, event registration, ticketing, payment processing, data storage, and technical support. These providers may use the information only to provide services to CREATE48 and not for their own independent marketing purposes.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with CREATE48, we may collect:

Contact information, including your name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, and organization.
Event and registration information, including team membership, event selections, attendance, eligibility information, and preferences.
Film, media, or project-submission information provided in connection with a CREATE48 event.
Communications you send to us, including questions, feedback, and support requests.
Email preferences, subscription status, and interactions with our communications.
Transaction information associated with registrations, tickets, merchandise, donations, or other purchases. Payment-card details are generally processed directly by our payment provider and are not stored by CREATE48.
Technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, referring pages, access times, and website activity.
Photographs, recordings, or other media captured at CREATE48 events when appropriate notices or releases have been provided.

We ask that you not provide sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for a specific service or we expressly request it.

3. How we use information

We may use personal information to:

Operate CREATE48 programs, competitions, screenings, workshops, and events.
Process registrations, film submissions, tickets, purchases, donations, and payments.
Communicate about events, deadlines, screenings, awards, and organizational news.
Respond to questions and provide assistance.
Maintain mailing lists and honor subscription preferences.
Administer participant agreements, releases, rules, and eligibility requirements.
Manage donors, sponsors, volunteers, participants, and community relationships.

4. When information may be disclosed

CREATE48 may disclose limited personal information in the following circumstances.

Service providers

We use companies that help us operate our organization, including providers of email delivery, website hosting, cloud storage, event registration, ticketing, payment processing, analytics, and technical support.

These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform services for CREATE48. They are not authorized to sell that information or use it for their own marketing.

Legal and safety requirements

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect the rights or safety of CREATE48 or others, investigate fraud, or enforce our agreements.

With your direction or consent

We may disclose information when you direct us to do so or give us permission.

Public event and submission information

Information you intentionally make public—such as a team name, filmmaker credit, film title, public biography, photograph, or award—may be displayed in event programs, websites, social media, promotional materials, and public archives.

Organizational changes

If CREATE48 undergoes a merger, reorganization, or transfer of operations, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

5. No sale or advertising-related sharing

CREATE48 has not sold personal information and does not sell personal information.

CREATE48 does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising and does not provide mailing lists to third parties for their independent promotional use.

Because we do not sell or share personal information in this manner, CREATE48 does not ordinarily maintain a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” process. You may still contact us with any privacy question or request using the information below.

6. Email communications

If you subscribe to a CREATE48 mailing list, we may send you event announcements and related communications.

You may unsubscribe from marketing email at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in the message. We may still send necessary transactional or administrative communications, such as registration confirmations, donation receipts, or important event updates.

We do not sell, rent, or provide our mailing lists to third parties for their own marketing.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Our websites may use cookies and similar technologies needed for website functionality, security, preferences, and general performance measurement.

CREATE48 does not use personal information collected through cookies for cross-context behavioral advertising. Your browser may allow you to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect certain website functions.

8. Data retention

We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary to:

Provide the requested services.
Operate and document our events and nonprofit activities.
Maintain appropriate business, financial, donation, and tax records.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Request deletion of your information, subject to applicable exceptions.
Obtain a portable copy of certain information.
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

CREATE48 will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.

11. Children’s privacy

CREATE48’s general websites and online services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without appropriate parental consent.

When minors participate in CREATE48 events, we may require authorization from a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, please contact us.

12. Third-party websites

Our websites and emails may contain links to third-party websites, ticketing services, social networks, or other external services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy.

13. International users

CREATE48 and its service providers may process information in the United States or other countries. Privacy and data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those in your country.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will post the revised policy with a new “Last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice when appropriate.
