Why CREATE48 Offers Fiscal Sponsorship

CREATE48 Media Network is the successor organization to Seattle 48 Hour Film, LLC. Our transition from a for-profit structure to a nonprofit was driven by a desire to better serve our creative community and expand the kinds of support we could offer—fiscal sponsorship being a key example.

As a nonprofit, CREATE48 is able to provide infrastructure that goes beyond events and programming. Fiscal sponsorship allows us to support mission-aligned projects, help creators access funding opportunities that require nonprofit status, and ensure those funds are managed responsibly.

This program is not offered in competition with other organizations that provide fiscal sponsorship. It exists as an extension of CREATE48’s community-first approach. Through our 48 Hour Film Project programs and related initiatives, we work closely with filmmakers, producers, and creative teams over time. We get to know our participants, their goals, and the practical challenges of sustaining creative work. Fiscal sponsorship allows us to continue supporting projects that grow out of that ecosystem.

CREATE48 has also been fiscally sponsored in the past. We understand what effective, respectful sponsorship looks like from the project side. We’ve been in the trenches, and we are committed to offering the same level of clarity, accountability, and quality of service that we once relied on ourselves—now shared back with our community and participants.

• Creative workforce development programs

  (training, workshops, mentorship initiatives)

• Visual arts and media projects connected to storytelling

• U.S.-based 48 Hour Film Project City Producers and their official organizations

• Projects connected to CEWC (Creative Economy Workforce Coalition)
