Rather than a single speaking engagement, this visit is envisioned as a short residency that allows for multiple points of entry:
public audiences, working filmmakers, students, and arts institutions.
WHY SEATTLE?
Team Deakins has taken a keen interest in Seattle as their next destination. Seattle has a large, active film community spanning filmgoers, independent filmmakers, commercial production, students, and educators.

With SIFFʼs year-long programming, community hubs like Northwest Film Forum, CREATE48 Media Network and workforce development training by Film Community Training at Harbor Island Studios, Seattle is already a place that supports the type of programming that Team Deakins values.

About this initiative
The Team Deakins Seattle Residency is a collaborative, community-driven effort organized by a broad coalition of Seattle-area filmmakers, educators, arts organizations, and industry professionals working together to host this visit.
CREATE48 Media Network is serving as the nonprofit fiscal sponsor for this initiative. As fiscal sponsor, CREATE48 provides administrative oversight, financial management, and compliance in support of this project.
